Yes, honey
Here is an interesting poem about women of 60s that I made for one workshop in our subject of culture. Women at the 60s’ were oppressed in some ways by the society. They were not aware of it at all, because they thought that the life they were living was the normal, correct and the perfect one. However, a lot of them was able to know that they were not completely relaxed and happy with their lives, and it supposed a big problem for them. They thought that they had to feel complete and happy living only this kind of life; marrying with a man with a good job, having kids and taking care of them without thinking about anything else. These were basically the only goals that they had. And if some woman wanted to do something different, she was considered revolutionary.
DIALOGUE POEM - WOMEN OF 60s
HOUSEWORK
Make me a coffee
Yes, honey
Wash and iron the clothes
Yes, honey
Make yourself beautiful
Yes, honey
I better drive the car
Yes, honey
Stay at home and
take care of the children
Yes, honey
Do not get any job
Yes, honey
Do not divorce me
Yes, honey
Do not have independence
Yes, honey
It is better if you
do not opine very loud
Yes, honey
Do not fulfill your dreams
Yes, honey
But believe
that you are fulfilling them
Yes, honey
Do not have freedom
Yes, honey
Be unhappy
Yes, honey
