About The Global Teacher Prize

The Global Teacher Prize is a US $1 million award presented annually to an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to their profession.

The prize serves to underline the importance of educators and the fact that, throughout the world, their efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated. It seeks to acknowledge the impacts of the very best teachers – not only on their students but on the communities around them.

These were the Top 10 Finalists in 2017:

David Calle

David Calle was the only Spanish teacher in this 50-best-teachers list in 2017 and the second one from our country to get into this ranking after César Bona two years before. But Calle went even further than Bona and was among the Top 10 Finalists.

"The most important thing is not to make my students 

become the best students, 

but to help them become the best they can"

With this sentence, we could summarize the educanional philosophy that Calle applies everyday to the thousands of students who follow his lessons through YouTube. Master classes on Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Technology for Secondary school students that caught the Global Teacher Prize jury's attention.
