FOOD FOR THE MIND
Today I will be talking about some books that I have read and have helped me understand better the teaching profession and the role of the students.
They are:
- Mal de escuela by Daniel Pennac
- Cartas a quien pretende enseñar by Paulo Freire
Letters to those who dare to teach available in English
- Las escuelas que cambian el mundo by César Bona
What have I learnt from reading this books?
From reading this books I have learnt that:
- As a teacher you will always have to find what motivates your students.
- As a teacher you never have to treat any of your students as a lost cause.
- As a teacher you have to ask your students never to think that they will not be able to achieve something. You can prove it to them with personal examples, so they won't forget it.
- One of the best methods for teaching is love.
- Schools can change the society.
- Schools have to prepare its students individually and collectively.
- Any child can become an agent of change.
- You don't have to travel to Finland to find Change-maker schools.
- Children are not the adults of tomorrow but the inhabitants of the present.
- It is as important to stimulate the students' creativity as the teachers'.
- If you can imagine it you can do it.
These are some of the most valuable lessons these books taught me and although they are addressed to teachers they are valid for everyone. I encourage you to read them because they illustrate the reality of our society pretty well. Now I don't wanna spoil you nothing else so GO READ THEM and tell me what do you think, if you have liked them, if not....in the comments below :)
See you soon,
M.S
